About the position

After your trainee year, you will work with:

• contributing to method development for analysis and monitoring in an increasingly power electronics-dominated power system.
• conducting studies to ensure system stability when integrating power electronics, such as offshore wind power, larger industrial loads, or battery storage.
• working on requirement development for power electronics facilities
• participating in disturbance investigations and follow-up of events in the power system.

You will contribute, among other things, to the development of solutions such as grid forming and next-generation system services and be part of a Nordic collaboration where common guidelines and requirements are crucial for a robust future system. With us, you will work closely with some of the Nordics' most senior experts in dynamic stability and advanced system analysis.

As a Trainee, you will belong to the new unit System Dynamics, which is responsible for detailed analyses and requirement development to ensure the dynamic performance and stability of the power system. The unit participates in several national and international collaborations.

In your role as a trainee, you are an important ambassador and face of Svenska kraftnät. We are looking for someone who is curious, engaged, and humble about the fact that no one knows everything from the start. During the trainee year, you will participate in training, mentoring, and practical experiences that prepare you for the future – while contributing new perspectives and energy to our operations.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You are goal-oriented and structured in your work approach, while also being relationship-oriented and building trust through attentiveness and respect.

We value a humble attitude towards learning – with us, it is perfectly okay not to have all the answers right away. The most important thing is that you have the willingness to develop, are open to feedback, and use it as a tool to drive your own development forward. Even though much will be prepared and structured for you during your trainee year, it is crucial that you take responsibility for your own work and your development with us.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. Svenska kraftnät is a government authority, and it is important that you live up to the government value base.

When the program starts, you should have a master's degree in a relevant field for the position, e.g., control engineering with a focus on electrical power, electrical power, technical physics, or energy technology. Your degree should be issued in 2024, 2025, or expected in the summer of 2026. Since we are looking for someone who is new in their career, we want you to have a maximum of two years of work experience, before or after your studies. Part-time jobs during your studies do not count.

You also have experience in at least one of the following areas:

• data analysis/signal processing
• and knowledge of power system analysis (static and/or dynamic)

To succeed as a trainee, you need to have a very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have knowledge and experience in:

• thesis work or work experience related to modeling and simulation of the power system and its components.
• practical experience with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar.
• knowledge of programming in Python
• good knowledge of power electronics, power system stability, or control engineering.
